Kidnapping
In Pennsylvania, an individual is considered guilty of kidnapping if they unlawfully move another individual from the place where s/he is found, or if an individual unlawfully confines another with the following intentions:
- To hold for ransom, reward, hostage as a shield.

- To inflict bodily injury or to terrorize the victim
- To interfere with the performance of public officials.
If removal or confinement is accomplished by force, threat or deception, or if the victim is under 14 years of age or a incapacitated person the crime of kidnapping is considered a first degree felony which can result in up to 20 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Anyone who receives, retains or disposes of any money from ransom is guilty of a 3rd degree felony with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison and $15,000 fine.
